The Major of London has announced that he intends to create a Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) that would unlock the development potential of Old Oak Common and Park Royal. (OOPROA – Old Oak and Park Royal Opportunity Area). A new corporation will take the lead of the planning of this area.

The Old Oak Common locality will be developed around the new High Speed 2 and Cross Rail Station due to be opened in 2026. This could create up to 24,000 new homes and 55,000 new jobs.

The protection of the Park Royal strategic industrial location (SIL) will continue and the creation of 10,000 additional job has been proposed.

The consultation for the MDC is due to close in mid April 2015.
